Carmen Estate Coffee is a family owned business as with most specialty coffee farms in Panama. They are sustainable coffee growers and exporters of high quality green coffee. The cultivating of arabica coffee varieties began on their estates in 1950 by Efrain and Carmen Franceschi. Their sons and grandsons now manage their single estate and mill (beneficio). Production is only 1200 bags per season.
Carmen Estate is located in the Paso Ancho area of Volcan Valley. This micro-region is heavily influenced by both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. This area has cool frost free nights and dry, sun drenched days which create optimal growing conditions. This coupled with the volcanic rich soil and superb drainage are ideal for the cultivation of their Arabica varieties of Catuai, Caturra and Typica.
